Steve has extensive commercial litigation and dispute resolution experience including:
- co-ordinating the defence of GIO to the largest shareholder class action brought in Australia including prosecuting cross claims against GIO’s advisers (class action settled following mediation in late 2003).
- acting for former P&O companies (now owned by DP World) and former P&O Managing Directors in defending landmark prosecution brought by the ACCC against former P&O companies, former Patrick companies and CEOs (including Chris Corrigan) for alleged price fixing and cartel conduct (prosecution settled June 2009).
- acting for an airline in responding to current ACCC investigation into alleged world wide air freight cartel.
- acting for Veda Advantage (formerly BayCorp) defending 9 class actions concerning complaints about information provided by Veda to credit providers (proceedings dismissed June 2008).
- acting for a major bank in commercial disputes including mistaken payments, conversion, Cheques Act disputes, fraud claims and interbank disputes.
- acting in reinsurance litigation in the Federal Court and Supreme Court of New South Wales.
- acting in disputes between joint venture partners and in valuers negligence cases including acting for Richard Ellis in the No 1 O’Connell Street litigation.
- acting in complex (often multi-party) contact, tort and Trade Practices litigation and in matters frequently referred to mediation.
