John is an experienced commercial litigator who manages complex disputes as well as supervising teams of lawyers providing litigation legal services to a number of institutional clients.
Since 1989, he has managed a team of lawyers that provide litigation and other legal services to one of Australia’s largest banks. He guides their work on a portfolio including:
- enforcement of securities;
- unsecured recoveries including bankruptcy and winding up;
- the defence of the Bank;
- fraud matters;
- advice on prospects; and
- general advice.
The courts in which this work is undertaken includes the High Court, Federal Court, Supreme Court, District Court, Local Court, Family Court and Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal.
John has also managed a team of lawyers providing debt recovery legal services to the New South Wales Department of Commerce.
John’s large case litigation includes acting in international arbitration and Federal Court proceedings over intellectual property rights and the design and construction of the Collins Class submarines.
